Ann Romney Is Headlining the First Night of the Republican National Convention

Ann Romney is going to be named the headlining speaker for the first night of the Republican National Convention on Monday, according to a new report from CNN's Mark Preston. The previously announced convention speakers are all familiar GOP names, like John McCain, Condoleezza Rice, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Chris Christie has been tapped to give the keynote address at the convention, and almost all of the rumored Vice President picks have been given speaking spots, except Tim Pawlenty. Even Ted Cruz got a speaking spot.

The idea is that Ann will provide an appropriate bookend for her husband's officially accepting the Republican nomination on the last night of the convention. A source told Preston the goal of the convention is "to tell Mitt Romney's story as someone who has the skills and background to turn the nation around." Official details for the first night of the convention are going to be released on Monday.
