Anna Kendrick Recounts Uncomfortable 'Twilight'-Related Fan Experience; Admits Personal Hoarding A Possibility

Being part of "The Twilight Saga" comes with perks -- and a few downsides -- according to actress Anna Kendrick, who said she recently overheard a couple discussing her film series in less than glowing terms, unaware she was standing just behind them.

"It follows me everywhere, no matter good or bad," Anna said on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Thursday night. "I was in line for a movie and there was a couple in front of me and they were looking at a 'Fright Night' poster and the husband was saying to his wife, 'Oh, another vampire movie... I'll bet you vampire costumes will be the most popular Halloween costume this year.'

"And this woman was like, 'How do you dress up like that? Have you seen 'The Vampire Diaries'? Have you seen those 'Twilight' movies?' and I just wanted to like sink into the ground," Anna continued. "And she's like, 'They look like that guy over there or that girl behind us.' It was like insulting on so many levels because it was like movies that I'm in and you don't know I'm in them and that's just mean. I can hear you: (imitates woman's voice) 'Oh this smudge of a human being. They look like anything.'"

The actress, who will conclude her role as Jessica Stanley in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which is due out on November 19, admitted she's never dressed up as a vampire herself, but she did try and look like Thora Birch, during 1993's "Hocus Pocus."

"'Hocus Pocus' was a big movie for me when I was a kid, so one year I tried to replicate the witch costume that the little girl wears in 'Hocus Pocus' and I would go from door to door, and people would come out and say, 'You're a very scary witch!' and I would say, 'Actually I'm the actress Thora Birch, who played Dani in 'Hocus Pocus,'" Anna recounted.

"That freaked people out," she admitted. "They didn't like that very much."

Anna is next up in "50/50," playing Katie, the not-very-educated psychologist of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's cancer-stricken character Adam, and she revealed that her fellow actor helped her research for the role, in the process helping Anna herself with a personal inclination to hoard.

"I was actually not familiar with that show 'Hoarders' until we shot the movie, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt mentioned it to me and I have since become totally addicted to that show," Anna, whose "50/50" character is somewhat of a hoarder, explained to Jay. "I sense the tendency to hoard, so I will watch marathons of that show and just get rid of everything that I own.... 'cause I feel the dark side."
