Anne Hathaway has shared her sorrow for those affected by the shooting at "The Dark Knight Rises" screening in Aurora, Colorado, that killed 12 and left dozens hospitalized.
"My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act," Hathaway, who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the Christopher Nolan-directed film, said Sunday in a statement to Access Hollywood. "I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."

Hathaway issued her statement after returning stateside from Paris, where Warner Bros., the studio behind the film, canceled the movie's French premiere following the shooting in the early hours of Friday morning.
Christian Bale, the star of the franchise, issued his own statement on Saturday.

"Words cannot express the horror that I feel," Bale said in his statement. "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
James Holmes, 24, whom authorities have identified as the suspected shooter, will be arraigned on Monday.
According to a previous report from CBS, Holmes claimed he was "The Joker."
