In her new novel, “Big Bad Copper,” author Anne Lacey combines the timeless appeal of the anthropomorphic literary device with modern-day elements.     The story is set in a parallel world where cats act and live like humans; they walk on two paws, drive cars, go to milk bars, work and even get married. Readers will meet the eponymous Copper, a cat who has an attitude, a big ego and a rather colorful past; he was once caught selling illegal catnip. Copper’s beloved Penelope and his sweet and caring sidekick, Simba, join him in his adventures. However, Copper’s life is about to take an unexpected turn and, without time to perpend, he is propelled on a mission to purge crime. Will he be able to redeem himself and his misdeeds? Will he and Penelope be able to enjoy a peaceful and normal life? Readers will unravel the answers in a story that is a heady mix of humor, action and drama.

    About the Author


    Anne Lacey is married and has a 39-year old son. She is a cat lover with four cats, Penelope, Copper, Isis and Chipper. She quit school at the end of sixth grade but decided to return in 1998 through an adult high school program. She worked by day and studied by night and graduated first in her class.

    In 2001, Lacey entered Brookdale Community College and graduated with an associate degree in English and another in Speech in 2005. She enrolled in New Jersey City University in 2006 and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.
