Anonymous Marks Bahrain Protest by Hacking U.S. Tear Gas Company

Anonymous Marks Bahrain Protest by Hacking U.S. Tear Gas Company

Much of the tear gas that billowed through Bahrain's streets Monday (and throughout the Arab Spring) was made by a Pennsylvania-based company called Combined Systems, so to mark the anniversary of protests in Bahrain, Anonymous took Combined Systems' website offline and dumped its employee and client data on the Web.

The Combined Systems website was unresponsive on Tuesday morning, as were the websites for surveillance hardware manufacturer Sur-Tec, Thompson Handcuffs, and weapons maker Penn Arms, all of which Anonymous claimed credit for knocking offline. The loose-knit hacking collective promised more such attacks for Valentine's Day, tweeting: "Stay tuned for more Valentine's Day Hacks. Have you enjoyed the show so far?"

If they want to prove something hack China?
      • KaMs 3 mths ago
That would require real skills, all these guys do is flood websites til they bog down enough to be unusable, anonymous is nothing more then a bunch of kids and adults in their parents basements trying to act tough, we all remember them pussing out against the Mexican drug lords and that is how they are, just a bunch of cowards that attack things they know wont harm them, but the first sign of danger and they chicken out.
    • Mr. Derp  •  3 mths ago
Cyber-terrorism is still terrorism. It's sickening that naive young people support them. If they were the good guys they would be hacking terrorist networks.
      • Amanda 3 mths ago
I agree, this idiot kids have this idea that these guys are like Robin Hood. NO CLUE what the danger in this kind of crap really is...

It's all fun and games until its your network that's hacked and your information that's spread all over the world...

This will give'um something to cry about!
    • Sean  •  Kalamazoo, Michigan  •  3 mths ago
So they attacked the people that made them but not the people who actually used them unethically? Not to say both are wrong but 99.9% of the blame should be put on the ones who use it.
    • Amanda  •  3 mths ago
I am NOT willing to cheer these guys on with the false trust some of you folks have placed in them. I don't know them, what if they decide to take it upon themselves to phock with people who work for banks, or corporations because they disagree with them, or don't like them? What if I work for that corporation? Or you do? Then what? Because this just happened to actual people, with actual personal info at stake. It is not cool that a small group of people get decide who gets thrown under the bus and who doesn't. They are self elected judge and jury and the 'deciders' of who is worthy of keeping their personal info private, and the only qualification they needed was to have master skills with a computer. Identity theft is a HUGE pain in the #$%$ and if it happens to you, you may feel differently about this topic. There are better, ways of delivering a message, more effective means of standing for what you believe in. Where does it end? It IS that black and white in this situation. I don't like being vulnerable to a group of people who act as puppet masters. Period.

Still no UN resolution on Bahrain regime for touchier and human rights abuse? Why go after Syria then? Hypocrisy
    • SimpleMan  •  3 mths ago
why not hack someone important and post it everywhere... like the bank accounts of al-Quida, or the ISA, or Revolutionary Guard

      Hack the planet!
    • deathknight  •  Jacksonville, Florida  •  3 mths ago
Once again Anonymous shows they are dbags by dumping people's info on the web "in revenge". Way to fail to look like the good guys you morons.
    • Larry  •  Tampa, Florida  •  3 mths ago
Lets not attack the ones responsible for using the tear gas, lets attack the seller. Sounds like a true cop out. I guess the Bahrain government has better software Anonymous couldn't hack.
    • Patrick  •  Richardson, Texas  •  3 mths ago
Can someone tell me how this helped anyone besides getting these hackers in the news again.
    • luke  •  3 mths ago
Anybody on here that complains about tear gas should consider the alternative. Would you rather see bullets instead?
    • Ralph  •  Lewiston, Idaho  •  3 mths ago
Do more to help the people like clear all the credit scores, that sure would help everyone.
    • Joseph  •  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania  •  3 mths ago
Attention Anonymous. We find it strange that your "image" as do-gooders is usually expressed by hassling Americans.

If you OR Julian Assange even remotely interested in "freeing" information from other sources and not just America you might all look more like idealistic heroes and less like petulant children. I watched with interest when Anonymous started to take on Mexican drug cartels only to again be reassured in my lack of faith as you backed away from an actual fight that could have helped people. So here it is...you are over-indulged cowardly little punks and no one is impressed. BUT.
If you honestly do give a crap about this world and you want to show us (and you can pretend you don't care what we think but we know you do). Then put all that genius to work for something that freaking matters...
-Hack child porn servers and post the names of subscribers.
-Deny service to websites that do business with the human trafficking rings in Sierra Leone.
-Identify banking institutions that do business with Warlords in Congo, Chad, Sudan and the Central African Republic and report them to Interpol.
-Go back to Mexico and grow a pair.
There are people suffering every day in this world...children being raped and killed for profit... you have power...and what did you bring to this dance?
An attack on a blue collar company making a non-lethal product and Julian Assange?
Really? That's your contribution? I am embarrassed for you
