NEW YORK (AP) — It's hard to break new ground at New York Fashion Week, where leather harnesses have cropped up on multiple runways and more than one designer has cited an insect as inspiration.
But the pig? That may have been a first.
Betsey Johnson put a not-happy-looking baby pig in the arms of one of the confetti-slinging models who pranced down a runway in her wild clothes to celebrate the designer's 70th birthday.
But even a cartwheel-turning septuagenarian can be quickly shoved out of the spotlight at runway previews that included new collections from Katie Holmes and Rachel Zoe, eye-popping colors from Michael Kors and the shortest models of the week — the children on wagons and scooters for Oscar de la Renta's new children's line.
New York Fashion Week wraps up Thursday after eight days of previews for spring 2013.
