APNewsBreak: Christie to decide soon on 2012 bid

TRENTON, New Jersey (AP) — Two people close to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie say he is reconsidering his decision not to run for the White House in 2012. They say he is expected to make a final decision soon.

Christie has long said he won't run in 2012. But the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about it, say he is rethinking his hard stance.

Calls have been intensifying from top Republican donors and party elders for Christie to jump into the race. President Barack Obama's weak approval ratings and a Republican field that has been struggling to put forward a clear front-runner are also creating an opening.

      OK, Christie's in, who's next.

I don't see Christie running and Palin was supposed to make her final decision TODAY (she's not running either).

Christie is just another loser the media are trying to sell to the people.

The current field of Republican candidates might as well be called the Committee to Re-elect Obama.

To all younger, middle class voters - Christie says that younger Americans must be
willing to make more sacrifices, like completing the Republican plan to end Medicare for
everyone 55 & under (Remember, the Republican-controlled House has already voted for
that & is praying there will be a new Republican Senate & President so they can make
that Republican dream come true), periodic cuts in your future Social Security benefits
(& some of his comments sound like he might push for total privatization of S.S. for
younger Americans), & more cuts to college loan & grant programs. I'm just waiting to hear
him say he's leading the way on making big sacrifices by promising to stop putting sprinkles
      on his Ding Dongs.

        When they talk about sacrifices
        is it we and them?

I'm not a Republican and I'm not Democrat. I'm not blaming one person for what is going on in this country, I'm blaming the whole establishment. Presidents, past and present, and our Congressmen who are elected to do what is best for the people and their country. They are screwing over the American people and they no longer have the best interest for this country and or the American citizen. Why do you think that they will not enforce immigration laws even though the majority of the people would rather see our immigration laws enforced. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the 2nd amendment partially for the citizens could rise up against the government if they felt that the government no longer represented them or was becoming tyrannical. We are now living in a soft tyranny. Soon we will not have any type freedoms or rights. We need a million man march of all colors that make up the American people and we come exercising our 2nd Amendment rights. Not to be violent, not to revolt, but just to remind them that the American citizens have the absolute right to abolish our current form of government and to disbanded the party systems when they no longer have the best interests of the people and or country. Congress, the President, the Federal Reserve, the E.PA., Both Party Systems, need take a look at what they are doing to this great country and get their #$%$ together. " Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient Causes;and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed." The Declaration of Independence. Please Re-Post.

Ryan, it is good to know that logical minds are out there. If we could have you, me and like you said a million others to Protest in the streets (orderly, lawful) to make the point clear that we have no favorites politically. We just want decent elected, who all should have term limits, to protect the middle/lower class. The question is how do we organize and make it happen.

I agree I'm glad to see someone on yahoo posting comments has some type of intelligence. Maybe if we can get the NAACP to march on something worth a hell they could cover everyone for us. But I doubt it there too busy bashing people over a football sign and a ice cream costume, instead of doing something helpful for our country. I for one would defiantly join this march if we can get people to do it.

Okay, enough jokes. They're terrible things to say and you people should be ashamed of yourselves. Let's get serious. Before he gets my vote he'll have to answer some tough questions:

      1) Will he initiate tax reform or just sit on it until he has a flat tax?
      2) Can he stop congressmen from taking pork out of Washington?
      3) If he wins will the other candidates be consumed with jealousy, or just consumed?
      4) Will there be a double dip recession to save on chips?
      5) Does he have expansionist plans?
      6) Will he eliminate waist?
      7) Can he handle a full plate?
      8) What are his thoughts on big government?
      9) How will he deal with the left wing? Same thing he does with the right drumstick?
      10) Should ethanol subsidies be continued at the cost of food production?

I think it's something he can sink his teeth into. He's a leader who can talk turkey. He'll be well ahead of the bottom line and not just fork over sweet deals to everyone who comes to the table. He'll be a leader who can finally answer the question, "Where's the beef?"

I'm tired of the media trying to create a story when there isn't one. Just forget about Christie unless/until he announces he is running. IT's like they are out for ratings and to be a reality show!

Who's who, and what do they stand for. We have many important issues to address. Each of us have our priorities, and looking for answers from someone. I now hope, most Americans, feel that Obama must be replaced, and ready to move for a replacement. Perry out for his stance on educating illegals with a discount, Romney strong in his presentations, and all weak on controversial issues, like illegal immigration enforcement. Christie comes on strong, with a mind set people appreciate. Some people that is! Bottom line, who can we trust? Is there anyone who we can trust, and will there ever be? Personally, I have zero confidence with the Obama administration. We do need real change this time in 2012.

Mr. Christie,I think the Republicans are lookingfor (someone, anyone)to fill their plate, can't you see the good men running for high office, you would be the best as far as I can see, but I don't believe you are ready, don't let them be in charge, all those old men should have left town a decade ago, As far as I am concerned, you would be TOP's.

I just thought about something. Didn't the wing nuts do this to rick perry? Who will be the next flavor of the month. lmao. Trump(oops) he already tried.
    • Paul C  •  7 mths ago
He only said it 20times he is not running. He would be best served sticking to his word. I don't think any viable republican wants to run against President Obama. Right now, republican is tied to tea party. He would never want to be associated with the crazies.
      • Mike 7 mths ago
I see we have someone who believes everything the media spoon feeds him. A viable republican should want to run against Obama, because Obama has never been more beatable than he stands today. Effort to argue otherwise is foolish. That is what is wrong with the candidates R's are fronting now. They all suck used bath water. Not sure if Christie would be what the country needs, but he's an automatic favorite over the clowns currently looking to dance in 2012.
    • rdy2fly  •  7 mths ago
I like Christie's sense of humor. I like politicians that are somewhat straight forward and aren't afraid to speak their mind. Having said that, I vote for candidates that can solve more problems than they create. Most of those politicians are at the local and state level.

Unfortunately, when those politicians reach the federal level, something happens. Christie is pro-life, not homophobic, and pro government. He believes in gun control. He appears to be anti-union and for welfare reform. I'm not sure the new Republican base will embrace him. Time will tell...

Wow, this is only the fourth time he's making his final decision. On the other hand, the only skeletons in his closet are from chickens.

When Christie tells Obama "This town's not big enough for both of us" he means it literally.

It seems that people in this country suffered a genetic mutation, that explains the huge number of obese. It is not genetics; it is too much processed food of poor quality, and lack of exercise. Lets blame also FDA , the for huge profits Food companies, and include the farmers too.

No running mate necessary as Christie is obviously ready for mitosis. Besides, there's no room on the ticket for anybody else.
