Apple acknowledges iMessage issue preventing messages from being delivered
Apple has confirmed an issue with its iMessage text and picture messaging service that has left many users unable to send messages at times. The issue first appeared following the release of iOS 7 last month and a number of users have reported being unable to send iMessages for days at a time as a result. ”We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update,” an Apple said spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal in a statement. “In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users.” According to MacRumors, a better albeit still temporary fix appears to be disabling iMessage in Settings > Messages, resetting network settings in Settings > General > Reset and then re-enabling iMessage. Apple may look to fix the bug with its upcoming iOS 7.0.3 update, which BGR exclusively reported will likely be released next week.
