Apple apologizes for ruining iCloud calendar
Some iPhone and Mac users have been experiencing a new annoying issue recently: iCloud calendar spam. What happens is that event invitations start appearing in the Calendar app on iOS and macOS, containing links to fake websites. There are ways to fix the problem, although none of them come officially from Apple, and not all will completely deal with the matter. However, the Cupertino-based company is aware of the iCloud spam phenomenon, it’s sorry, and it’s working on it.

Apple would not give out more details about the matter, but at least acknowledged the issue in a statement to iMore, and said it’s taking measures on the server side of things.
“We are sorry that some of our users are receiving spam calendar invitations,” Apple said. “We are actively working to address this issue by identifying and blocking suspicious senders and spam in the invites being sent.”
We already showed you how to mitigate the issue for the time being. You can choose to disable calendars on iCloud, redirect invites to your email, or simply decline the dubious event invites you receive.
You’ll have to disable Calendar on iCloud to solve the problem for good, at least until Apple puts in place a permanent fix that would prevent spammy events from making it the notification shade on your iOS or macOS device.
