Apple’s App Store just had its best month ever

Use this simple trick to hide App Store purchases on your iPhone in iOS 8

Apple told CNBC on Tuesday that the App Store brought in record-breaking revenues during the month of July. According to the report, more customers completed transactions on the App Store last month than in any month in history as well. Both of these records follow another breakout fiscal quarter for Apple during which the company raked in a net profit of $7.7 billion.

“I couldn’t be happier. This is the best execution of any quarter since I’ve been at Apple,” CEO Tim Cook told CNBC at the time.

As 9to5Mac points out, Cook wrote in the quarterly report that iTunes was Apple’s fastest growing business with a 12% increase in year-over-year revenue to bring iTunes to $4.5 billion last quarter. Customers have now downloaded over 75 billion apps since the App Store’s inception and Apple has paid its developers over $20 billion in that time span.

Those numbers should continue to rise as Apple prepares for its latest generation of iPhones on September 9th, when Cook and his colleagues are expected to take the stage to unveil the iPhone 6. If Apple does in fact bring both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models to market, it will be interesting to see how app developers adjust to the increased display real estate.
