Apple could screw over iPhone repair shops with crazy new screw design

People who think Apple (AAPL) products are difficult to repair now haven’t seen anything yet. A Reddit user named “thrownawayyesok” has posted a picture of dubious veracity showing that Apple is purportedly redesigning its screws to have asymmetric heads that might drive any third-party iPhone repairers to the brink of madness. Apple has come under fire in recent years for making its devices increasingly more difficult for third-party repair shops to crack, and the repair gurus at iFixit this summer said that Apple’s new MacBook Pro was one of the least repairable laptops they’ve ever encountered. Needless to say, the purported new Apple screws will only make things worse on the reparability front.
