New Apple TV to switch on at March 7 next-gen iPad event: rumor

Apple is rumored to announce a new Apple TV

Apple has confirmed that it will host a press event on March 7 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco where the company is largely expected to announce its next generation iPad, aka the iPad 3.

Rumors suggest that the iPad won’t be the only product to be unveiled during the keynote. Influential Apple blog 9to5Mac says that “sources have outright said Apple is launching this J33 (the new Apple TV’s codename) alongside the new iPad.”

9to5Mac reports that the improved Apple TV might sport a faster processor, giving the device the ability to stream video in 1080p.

The next-generation iPad is expected to ship with a higher resolution “retina” display, an enhanced processor and 4G connectivity.

According to two small studies conducted by AYTM and published on Mashable, current iPad owners are more than three times more likely than non-owners to upgrade to the next iPad.

Those surveyed cited a bigger battery, 4G connectivity, a better camera and a faster processor among the features they were hoping to see on the iPad 3. Interestingly, iPad users said that the iPad’s lack of Adobe Flash was the feature they missed the most followed by a better keyboard, a better camera and Siri.
