Arab League: Disaster in Syria if peace plan fails

CAIRO (AP) — The head of the Arab League warned Saturday that the failure of an Arab-brokered plan to end the violence in Syria would have disastrous consequences, as new bloodshed fueled skepticism that the country's autocratic regime is serious about halting its crackdown on dissenters.

The 22-nation bloc's secretary-general, Nabil Elaraby, expressed "deep worries and regret for the continuation of violence all around Syria" despite the deal announced Wednesday at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo.

The deal called for the Syria to halt violence against protesters, but skeptical regime opponents who held large protests Friday to test the government's word were met with gunfire that killed more than 15 people, activists said.

"The failure of the Arab solution will have disastrous consequences in Syria and the region," Elaraby said. He urged the Syrian government to take "immediate measures ... to protect civilians and assure everyone."

On Saturday, activists reported more violence, including tank shelling, in the restive central city of Homs, one of Syria's centers of both protest and reprisal during the seven-month uprising against President Bashar Assad.

Under the Arab plan, Syria's government also agreed to pull tanks and armored vehicles out of cities, release political prisoners and allow journalists and rights groups into the country.

On Saturday, Assad marked Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, by releasing 553 detainees, according to SANA, the state-run news agency. The detainees were involved in the unrest in the country, but had "no blood on their hands," SANA said.

Assad traditionally releases detainees to mark religious or national holidays, but many more are believed to remain in jail as political prisoners.

The continuous shelling three days after the Arab League deal was reached suggests Damascus is unwilling — or unable — to put a swift end to a crackdown that has already killed 3,000 people, according to U.N. estimates.

Bloodshed linked to the military crackdown on dissent and what appear to be sectarian revenge killings have engulfed Homs in recent weeks, claiming scores of lives in the country's third-largest city.

Two main activist groups, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordinating Committees, said there were casualties Saturday but the exact figure was not immediately clear.

The crisis in Syria has burned since mid-March despite widespread condemnation and international sanctions aimed at chipping away at the ailing economy and isolating Assad and his tight circle of relatives and advisers. The protesters have grown increasingly frustrated with the limits of their peaceful movement, and there are signs of a growing armed rebellion in some areas.

Some protesters are even calling for the kind of foreign military action that helped topple Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

Syria blames the bloodshed on "armed gangs" and extremists acting out a foreign agenda to destabilize the regime. Assad has played on some of the country's worst fears to rally support behind him, painting himself as the lone force who can ward off the kind of radicalism and sectarianism that have bedeviled neighbors in Iraq and Lebanon.

Tremors from the unrest in Syria could shake the region. Damascus' web of allegiances extends to Lebanon's powerful Hezbollah movement and Iran's Shiite theocracy. And although Syria sees Israel as the enemy, the countries have held up a fragile truce for years.

And after they asked the UN to intervene in Libya, their leader then, Omar Mousa, later regretted doing so.We Libya were surprised that they stood up with us then and, till now some people think that it was a miracle that they did, God made them do it , our luck? Your pick.

There is no peace in Syria. Assad continues to agree to deals, and at the same time he continues to kill and put protesters in prison. The Arab league are a bunch of idiots talking about "if".

Because humans are derived from animals and many in the world have yet to evolve into a pacifist cooperative mindset. You have these unelected dictators acting like Silverback gorillas defending their leadership to all who challenge them. The only difference is humans can now make weapons which makes killing much easier.

Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Syria (possibly), Iran, then who knows but there will be 10 of them according to the Bible. - Revelation 17:13. All this unrest plays into the need for "peace and security", which is the basis on which the antichrist will move into power in the Islamic Middle east.

Obama (BHO) is the Biblical antichrist.

He is going to be given power over a new coalition that he sets up, which will consist of 10 Islamic nations (one of which will be Lybia) from the vacuum created in the Arab Spring (Rev 17:13; Dan 7:8,20). He's going to do this in the name of “peace and security” (1Thess 5:3) because of the instability that arises from the power vacuums that are left in the wake of these middle east campaigns.

Obama under the guise of NATO (so that he can avoid congressional approval), is deliberately creating huge vacuums throughout the middle east region where he will eventually sweep into take power. The “Arab Spring” uprisings had almost completely fizzled out before BHO decided to topple Gadhafi. This immediately re-ignited them in the region. Now the only question is, whose next?

The antichrist won’t conquer in the tradition way. Rather, the Bible says the antichrist will be “given power” from 10 kings (Rev 17:13). This could only happen if he can get the people of these nations to push for him to be their leader.

Hence, BHO will use persuasion (campaign tactics, promises of a better life, women’s rights, and transferring US wealth) instead of guns to succeed where others, like Hitler and Napoleon, have failed in world conquest. This way the "will of the people" of these nations and their militaries will be completely behind him when he takes power because he will make it their decision for him to rule.

The False Prophet, who is a separate person from the antichrist BHO, will be the Islamic false returned Jesus (Isa). This false (imposter) Jesus will deny he is the Son of God and deny he died on the cross. He will also force everyone to take the mark of the beast so that no one can buy or sell, or function in society without this mark (Rev 13:11-17; Rev 19:20). If you research this you will see that Muslims are expecting him, who (although they don’t realize it) is the false Messiah warned about in Rev 13:11-17 and Rev 19:20. He matches perfectly with the false prophet warned about in the Holy Bible.

The Elements: BHO is the antichrist. The revived Islamic caliphate that BHO will be the leader of is the Beast from the Sea (Rev 13:1-10) & also the fourth beast of Daniel 7, and the Great Harlot is the US. (Rev 17 all).

The Great Harlot: In Rev 17 the US/BHO tie is the "harlot sitting on the scarlet beast." The harlot depicted in Rev chapters 17 & 18 is the world super power nation in the last days which is the US. The scarlet beast is the antichrist, her leader, BHO, who comes to power first through this world super power nation before gaining even greater power from 10 kings who will “agree to give him their power to rule.”

Whereas the Islamic Jesus (Isa) is the Biblical “false prophet” (which is fitting because Muslims believe that Jesus was only a prophet)--the real Jesus, the One who is the Son of God, died on the cross and rose from the dead, is returning very soon.

“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.” – Rev 1:7.

This verse indicates that most people will be on the wrong side when He returns.

"Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist--he denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also." 1John 2:22-23.

The Arab League has no stomach to really stop Assad from killing his own people. The Arab League is a lion with no teeth. Word's from the League have fallen on deaf ear's. Assad will do as he wish's and more people will die. The world at large is afraid of what "might happen" if Assad should go, not what "will happen'.

The problem is in the Assad family which are Alawid Muslims.. They've been in power far too long and won't relinquish it gracefully and they don't tolerate political diversity.
