Archie Television Series May Be Coming to Fox

He's gone toe-to-toe with the Punisher, played music with KISS, and very soon, he takes on the Predator. There are few comic book characters as iconic as Archie Andrews. After the massive success of shows Arrow and The Flash, producer Greg Berlanti is bringing the town of Riverdale to television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the one-hour long drama entitled "Riverdale" may be coming to Fox. It will be based on the characters in the Archie Comics world.

The show will follow Archie, Betty, Veronica and a cast of other locals as they explore the surrealist twists of small-town life. While there will be lots of love-triangle struggles between the aforementioned characters, fans can expect the show to focus on some out-there elements, as seen in the comics.

While the show is being written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the current writer of the terrifying AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE, the chances of zombies popping up are slim to none; however, you can expect to see other characters like Josie and the Pussycats, Jughead, and Kevin Keller.

Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater had this to say about the project:

“This is a historic moment for Archie Comics, and we couldn’t be happier to partner with Fox, Warner Bros. and Greg Berlanti to bring our characters to television... Greg and Roberto are experts when it comes to making great, compelling television and bringing beloved comic book creations to life on the screen. They’re the perfect team to welcome viewers to Riverdale.”

Aguirre-Sacasa says they've been working on this for quite some time and that “The entire team working on ‘Riverdale' is as passionate about Archie as Jon and I are, so it feels like the stars have finally aligned for Archie and the rest of the gang.”

As of now, there is no date or "sure thing" that this is coming to Fox, but it seems like it's well on its way.
