Armed men torch 34 buses in Brazil
SAO PAULO (AP) — A Brazilian bus company says at least six armed men stormed into one of its garages in an industrial Sao Paulo suburb and set it ablaze, burning 34 buses.
Urubupunga's general manager Miguel de Albuquerque says the aggressors were heavily armed and held four of the company employees while they torched the buses in the suburb of Osasco. No one was injured.
Albuquerque said buses were running slower than usual in Osasco because of the attack early Tuesday. He said the company hadn't received threats and police are investigating the motive.
Sao Paulo police have not released any information, but gangs have torched passenger buses before to retaliate against crackdowns on the drug trade. News reports say a suspected trafficker was killed Monday night.
