Bring an item from the SPCA wishlist
This is the second annual Dog Day Afternoon, which benefits the Delaware County SPCA of Media, Pennsylvania. It's an afternoon of fun and competitive workouts; you can see highly adoptable pets in need of homes and bring your own friendly pets, as well as the kids. CrossFit will be providing wings, veggies, and various samples from VitaCoco; feel free to bring additional snacks. Instead of a registration fee, the public is asked to bring item(s) from the SPCA's wishlist, such as: towels, blankets, sheets, Kongs, U.S.-made rawhide, hot dogs, string cheese, peanut butter, etc. The full wish list can be viewed online.
Saturday, April 20, 7:05 p.m.
Wells Fargo Center
This is the season's home opener for the Philadelphia Soul. They'll be going up against the Cleveland Gladiators, also from the Eastern Division of the Arena Football League. The Soul won their division last year, so if they can pick up the momentum from last season, they should be in good shape for this one.The Walking Dead Escape
Sunday, April 21, 2 p.m.-7 p.m.
Wells Fargo Center
If you're a fan of "The Walking Dead," then this event is for you. A gruesomely realistic obstacle course is set up at the Wells Fargo Center, complete with survivors, zombies (aka "Walkers"), and spectators. The backstory is that Philly is infected with the virus, so survivors need to get through the zombie-infested obstacle course to get to an evacuation zone. If you make it without being tagged by a zombie, you're eligible to compete for cash prizes of up to $2,500. Note: College students registering as survivors can save $18 by using the discount code "College." If you do, be sure to bring your valid college student ID the day of the event for validation.
