An artist built a life-sized Batmobile using 500,000 LEGOs

As we’ve mentioned before, we love seeing what truly dedicated nerds can do when given enough time and LEGOs. Nerdist brings us word that a Los Angeles-based artist named Nathan Sawaya has used an estimated 500,000 LEGOs to build an 18-foot replica of the Batmobile that is one of the most ambitious and well executed LEGO projects we’ve ever seen.

The model weighs several hundred pounds and it took roughly 480 hours to build over the span of just two months — this means Sawaya had to work on it for at least 10 hours a day to get it done on time.

“The detail on the car is insane,” reports Nerdist, which got to see the replica up close and in person. “You can’t see it from the pictures, but the wheels have little Bat Symbol holes in the spokes, made by putting LEGO bricks together.”
