San Francisco-based indie electronic pop duo Cathedrals has been making waves with three tracks released over the past year. Get to know them before they release their debut EP later this summer.
Cathedrals is Brodie Jenkins and Johnny Hwin, two friends who met in San Francisco. Hwin is a tech entrepreneur and part of the Mission District art/tech collective The Sub. Jenkins has worked as a game designer and also performs as part of the SF folk-rock duo Ghost & Gale.
Why the buzz?
Jenkins's charismatic voice finds a well-matched backdrop in Hwin's live and electronic production.
After building buzz with their first two singles, earlier this month they released a third, "Want My Love," which Oblivious Pop called "a steamy windstorm of luscious vocals and sultry synths rocking you slowly into a dreamy state of wonder."
The Ripe called the track "a near perfect combination of soul, pop and dreamy electronica," while Cassette Rewind praises the band's "flawless mixture of buoyant electronics and pop saturated hooks."
What to listen to?
Head to SoundCloud to hear Cathedrals' three tracks released so far: "Unbound, "Harlem" and "Want My Love." Having recently signed to Neon Gold Records, they have an EP arriving this summer -- title and date TBA.
Where to see?
Cathedrals have an all ages show planned at the Chapel in San Francisco on July 10, at which they'll perform tracks they've been recording for the EP. For future dates and other news, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
