PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (AP) — The four Asian teams are having a dismal World Cup in terms of the win-loss ledger so far — and things will only get worse if South Korea doesn't beat Algeria on Sunday.
So far, Australia is out of contention after two matches, while Japan and Iran are hanging on by thread.
South Korea must beat Algeria to retain hope of advancing from Group H.
Coach Hong Myung-bo noted the results of the Asian teams so far, saying he didn't know whether Asian football has got worse or other sides have progressed more.
Hong predicted a tight match Sunday but that his team would "play to win" following its scrappy draw against Russia in its opener.
