Attention music lovers: A gigantic library of 13,000 live concert videos has just gone up on YouTube
Do you enjoy watching old concerts? If so then you’re going to love what Music Vault did this week when it uploaded roughly 13,000 new videos of concert live footage onto its YouTube page.
Now, some warnings for any teenyboppers out there who think they’ll be able to go to this page and find the latest concert videos from Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry or Justin Bieber: You should know that these videos tilt very heavily toward the geriatric crowd, particularly fans of jam bands like the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers Band or classic rock acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, the Who and the Rolling Stones.
That said, we did find some videos of more contemporary acts such as Of Monsters and Men, The Vaccines and Dawes, so it’s not completely bereft of artists under the age of 50 years old. Plus, Music Vault says it will upload new videos every day so you should expect the selection of music to improve over time.
The whole vault is worth searching on your own and you shouldn’t be surprised if you turn up some hidden gems — right now we’re watching the Sex Pistols performing at Winterland in 1978 and realizing that Sid really, really, really could not play even the simplest bass part competently.
