Augusta home, car engulfed in Thursday afternoon fire

Augusta firefighters on Thursday spent hours battling a house fire and vehicle fire on the 2200 block of Ruby Drive.

Just after 3 p.m., firefighters responded to the Augusta home for a house and car fire at the same location, according to officials.

The homeowner was able to make it out of the house safely and Truck 4 and Engine 11 searched the home while Engine 13 extinguished the fire, according to officials.

No injuries were reported and the fire's cause is under investigation, according to the department. Firefighters left the home around 5 p.m.
