Awesome Toy Picks: Stormtrooper Sixth Scale Figure by Hot Toys

Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. Now we're perfectly aware Star Wars started out as a movie before the vast number of comics resulted. Now that Star Wars is back where the comics started, at Marvel, there's been a resurgence in excitement. To celebrate, we're going to look at the Stormtrooper Sixth Scale Figure by Hot Toys.

Think back to the first time you saw the Stormtroopers. They came firing at the Rebels with Darth Vader soon to follow. There was something almost elegant about them. The faceless troopers simply shot at their targets. Unfortunately as the movies progressed, it seemed their abilities to actually hit things started to waver. But still, they looked cool. The sixth scale figure captures what their look is about.

Be sure to check out the video at the top of the page to see the full detail.

Hot Toys, of course, puts in a lot of detail into their figures. The design of the Stormtrooper consists of a bunch of different of armor. Having each piece separate adds to the realism. You've probably seen other Stormtrooper figures, on a smaller scale. They're usually made from solid pieces of plastic. Each pieces moves separately and there's the cloth undersuit as well.

On his back, there is a thermal detonator that clips onto his [velcro] belt.

The Stormtrooper also has a leather holster to stick in a blaster. What's cool about it is the strap has a tiny set of magnets. Unfortunately one piece came off the holster, but a tiny bit of superglue and it was back to normal.

There are two different blasters. The first is the more traditional one we usually see in the movies, the E-11 blaster rifle.

Again, check out the video to see the full extension of the blaster.

The second blaster is the smaller SE-14r light repeating blaster.

There's a few different hands you can choose from. You have a pair to hold the blasters. You can have him holding one in each hand. There is the slightly opened hands to hold other things or just in a relaxed position. There is one opened gesturing hand too.

If that's not enough, there's also a pair of fists. It's a little known fact that most Stormtroopers are highly skilled boxers. Or maybe that's just a rumor the Galactic Empire started.

I do have a Clone Trooper and a Shadow Trooper. I do think the quality has improved.

The design of the Stormtrooper is pretty simple. There's not a lot going on to make the figure look too busy. It may be a simple design but there is still a lot of detail.

The figure also comes with a stand that looks like it came straight out of the Death Star. Surely some of flooring must have survived the destruction. It couldn't have been completely obliterated. Maybe?

Stormtroopers are the unsung heroes in the Star Wars universe. They're simply trying to make their way, doing their job. Then you have a bunch of Rebels stirring all sorts of trouble and jeopardizing their livelihood. Then again, they did kill Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. That wasn't very nice.

This Sixth Scale figure is now available for pre-order. You can click the following link to place your order:
