AXS TV Renews ‘The X Factor UK’ For U.S.

U.S. home for the 12th season of the program, which premieres in the fall. The agreement to carry the 34-episode season was signed with FremantleMedia International and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment. X Factor UK was created by Syco and is co-produced with Thames TV, which is part of FremantleMedia UK. AXS TV will continue to air all episodes of The X FactorUK within 24 hours of respective UK broadcasts.

Cowell was interviewed by Piers Morgan at Mipcom in October for the Personality of the Year keynote and said he

thought he and Fox “gave up too early” on the U.S. version of The X Factor, which was cancelled after three seasons. “The one thing I do know,” Cowell said, “because I work in the music business, is that X Factor is the best music format in the world and it only takes one artist — whether it’s a Susan Boyle or a One Direction — and the whole thing turns on its head. So I haven’t given up on X Factor America yet.”

Michele Dix, SVP Programming and Development at AXS TV, said in today’s announcement, “American viewers have embraced this (UK) series, as last season’s dramatic storylines and eliminations led to significant increases in engagement each week.”
