Baby Turtles Hitch A Ride On Hippo’s Back In Cutest Pic You’ll See Today

We’ve come to know them as teenage mutant ninjas, but sometimes young turtles just like chilling out.

And where better to chill out than on the back of a hippopotamus?

This photo captures the moment a group of baby turtles were carried across a stretch of water on a hippo’s back.

The picture was taken by British photographer Tony Cunnington at a watering hole in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

He spotted the animals getting all friendly while on a day trip to the park with his wife Jennifer.

Mr Cunnington said: ‘We stopped the car by a mud bank, we couldn’t see the water hole at this stage.

‘When we drove up the bank, we immediately saw the hippo covered in terrapins.

‘At the top of the bank we repositioned the car sideways to get the best view, we were 10m away from the hippo, it was a perfect position.

‘The hippo was just relaxing in the water hole, I think the terrapins had climbed on its back to get some winter sun.

‘I thought this must be a really unusual shot. I had never taken such a unique photograph.’
