"Today is all about our friends and family," Ashley told People. "It's about standing with J.P., looking around at all the people we love in the same room there to celebrate our love."

J.P., a 35-year-old construction manager from New York, popped the question to Ashley, 28, on the August 2011 season finale of "The Bachelorette."

Back in May 2011, shortly after the debut of her season as "The Bachelorette," Ashley admitted she was hesitant to take another shot at reality romance after not being picked by "Bachelor" Brad Womack.

"Watching myself and saying, 'Who would really want to date me?' Who would want to date somebody who looked so insecure? So going into it, I had a few insecurities and they were highlighted, even that first night, even before I showed up!" she told Access Hollywood Live's Billy Bush and Kit Hoover at the time. "I feel like I was little needy. I think I didn't know how to date in that environment... I didn't want to believe that he actually like me... I was very resistant. I guess I was protecting myself."

Ashley and J.P.'s nuptials were taped for a two-hour special, which will air on ABC on December 16.
