At just 16 years old, aspiring rapper/singer Becky G got the thrill of a lifetime when superstar Jennifer Lopez agreed to appear in the music video for her new song, "Becky from the Block" (an homage to "Jenny from the Block").
AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman caught up with the young artist to get the scoop on what it was like for Becky to meet her longtime idol, J.Lo.
"It was like a 'pinch me now' moment. I still get goosebumps when I watch the video," Becky told Laura, recalling how she felt when Jennifer Lopez dropped in on a recording session to listen to "Becky from the Block." "She is just naturally beautiful but yeah, she walked into the studio looking all hot and stuff, [wearing a] fur coat, I was like 'Oh my gosh!'"
Jennifer was approached about appearing in Becky's video by writer/producer Dr. Luke, and when the former "American Idol" judge stopped by to check it out, Becky wasn't quite ready to meet the ultra-glamorous star.
"I had just finished coming from my workout so my hair was all crazy and they're like, 'Jennifer Lopez is coming by in 10 minutes.' I was like what?!'" she continued. "So I ran to the bathroom and got all ready."
J.Lo liked what she heard and agreed to appear in the clip.
In the resulting video -- which has been viewed nearly one million times since it was posted on Monday -- Jennifer can be seen riding in a passing muscle car driven by none other than her boyfriend, Casper Smart - whose cameo was Becky's idea.
"[J.Lo] helped me pick the car out and she was like, 'Oh, we need somebody with tattoos [to drive],'" Becky explained. "I was like, 'Casper maybe? He's got the tattoos going on, we can put a beanie and white tank on him.' She was all for it and so was he."
Hailing from Inglewood, Calif. (the oldest of four children in her family), Becky was inspired to start writing as a creative outlet after her parents hit a financial rough patch.
"I was going through a hard time -- my parents had just lost their home," Becky said, of what spurred her interest in the arts at an early age. "We moved into my grandpa's converted garage -- there were six people living in [one] room.
"Music was my one way to vent," she added.
