    Behind the Scenes: Fighting for Democracy, Part 7 – Alison Roberts [VIDEO]

    Welcome to the seventh episode of an ongoing video interview series with the creative team behind Fighting for Democracy: Who is the “We” in “We the People”?, on view at the National Constitution Center through January 16, 2012.

    This interview features costume designer Alison Roberts, a highly regarded Philadelphia theater professional; Fighting for Democracy marks her first collaboration with the Center. Alison’s work is most often seen at the acclaimed Arden Theatre Company, where she is in her 12th season as costume supervisor. Other Philadelphia design credits include work with Theatre Exile, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Act II Playhouse, Flashpoint Theatre, 1812 Productions and Jeanne Ruddy Dance. Alison has a master’s of fine arts degree in costume design and technology from Illinois State University.

    Fighting for Democracy unites a must-see, multimedia exhibition from the Japanese American National Museum with a stirring, original theatrical production created by the National Constitution Center.  Paying homage to ordinary Americans with extraordinary legacies, this groundbreaking exhibit-theater hybrid illuminates the real-life experiences of a diverse group of seven Americans who bravely fought for equality, freedom and justice overseas and at home during World War II.
