Berlin: The Match Factory Picks Up Bohdan Slama’s ‘Ice Mother’ (EXCLUSIVE)
World sales company The Match Factory, which has four films in competition and three in Panorama at the Berlin Film Festival, has picked up the international sales rights for “Ice Mother,” helmed by director Bohdan Slama.
“Ice Mother” tells the story of 67-year-old Hana who is the underappreciated, good soul of her family constantly helping her two sons and their children. One day Hana rescues a man, Bronia, floating in the river, unable to move. After helping him out of the icy water she makes many new friends in the winter swimming club. With Bronia’s help Hana starts to change her life.
Slama’s previous films include “Wild Bees,” “Something Like Happiness,” “Country Teacher” and “Four Suns.”
The film, which is shooting now, is produced by Negativ (Czech Republic), Artileria (Slovakia), and Why Not Productions (France), in co-production with Ceska Televize (Czech Republic), Barrandov Studio (Czech Republic) and RTVS (Slovakia). The producers are Pavel Strnad and Petr Oukropec.
