The Best Stuff In Comics: 11-10-14

Normally this has been a VIDEO FEATURE for over one hundred episodes. We're still toying with the idea of changing the format to see what works best. It's all a matter of time for us to produce and in how you all prefer to consume this feature. I've toyed with the idea of testing a text version to see how it goes. Let me know in the comments below.

Each week we take a look at the other Best Stuff you might have missed.

Green Lantern #36

Best Undead Circus

With Godhead underway, it looks like Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps need all the help they can get. He's made a truce with Sinestro and his Sinestro Corps. Meanwhile on Earth, we see what Black Hand has been up to.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #9

Best Name for a Punch by Spider-Ham

Remember Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham? He was a pig version of Spider-Man and even had his own series taking place on his animal world. With Spider-Verse underway, we've been told we'd see every version of Spider-Man there is and it looks like that just might be the case. When the Looter tries committing a crime, Spider-Ham delivers a blow with a name that's actually a little disturbing.

Best Almost-Butt Shot

Equal opportunities in comics, right? Women are often sexualized in comics so why not turn the tables around a little. Peter Parker apparently sometimes sleeps in the nude. Maybe it's helpful when he doesn't have a chance to get around to doing laundry. He awakens to find Silk hanging in his room. He decides they need to get out of there and gets dressed for the occasion. As he gets up, you get an almost glimpse at some spider-butt.

I won't mention who suggested this one this week.

BATMAN ETERNAL #31

Best Team-Up

Arkham Asylum has sort of been destroyed. There are still some survivors trying to make their way out. Sometimes in order to accomplish your goals, you need to put aside your differences and work with others. Alfred has recently been injected with a powerful dose of Scarecrow toxin. He was taken to Arkham unbeknownst to Batman and Alfred's daughter Julia. Alfred managed to survive the explosion at Arkham but will he survive teaming up with Bane? If he does, can we get a series or miniseries with the two?

HULK #8

Best Reason Hulk can do Whatever he Wants

Hulk, or I guess we should say Doc Green, has been going after his gamma-irradiated friends and 'curing' them. He pays a visit to Doc Samson's grave, to make sure he is still dead (this is comic books after all) and is spotted by someone working at the cemetery.

Doc Green explains what he's doing and even says he'll clean up the mess. But what it comes down to is he has a pretty good reason why he can get away with this.

NAILBITER #7

Best Appearance by a Comic Book Writer in an Actual Comic Book

The appearance of comic book creators in actual comics isn't a new thing. It's happened quite a bit and some creators even have their own wiki pages for their comic book counterparts here on Comic Vine. In this week's issue of NAILBITER, Brian Michael Bendis paid a visit to the town of Buckaroo, OR to look into all the serial killers coming from the place.

It does fit into the story and does offer a different look at what's going on in the town. The bigger question is, will he survive the experience?

Also, this was pretty much our reaction as well when we first heard he was going to be in the issue.

DEADPOOL: ART OF WAR #2

Best Reason to Know the Difference Between Personal Pronouns and Asgardian Speak

Guess what? Deadpool got himself in a bit of a mess. No surprise there. While locked away in an Asgardian prison, with Thor, he attempts a little move taken from Harry Houdini in order to try to escape. The main thing is, if you're going to be hanging out with people from Asgard, you should be aware of how they speak. Otherwise, it might make you look or sound a little silly. Then again, Deadpool is likely more than used to that.

This could also fall under "Best Escape" this week.

TINY TITANS: RETURN TO THE TREEHOUSE #6

Best Way to Call Superman Without a Signal Watch

We all know Jimmy Olsen was given a Signal Watch to call for Superman whenever he's in danger. That made Jimmy cool because it showed how good of buddies he and Superman were. But is a signal watch really necessary? Batman shows another equally effective way to get Superman to arrive.

It worked too while even being in the Justice League Watchtower.

DEATH OF WOLVERINE: LIFE AFTER LOGAN #1

Best Reason Not to Drink Wine Coolers

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is never easy. What we do discover is drinking is not the answer. Especially wine coolers. And especially not at the Jean Grey School.

Does anyone still drink wine coolers? Do they still even make them?

GRAYSON #4

Best 'Family Circus' Moment

This isn't the first time we've had this category. If you've ever read the Family Circus "comic" strip, you've probably seen little Billy walk all over the place and being able to see what his path was. It seemed to happen a lot. In this week's issue of GRAYSON, Dick is at the Hardian's Finishing School (which is basically a murder school) and we see what happens when he decides to go out and is followed by some girls, training to be killers.

SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #9

Best Embrace

Superman is about to go off on a mission that he wouldn't be able to survive. He and Lois share a moment before he leaves. Makes you long for the old days, huh?

Bonus: Best Beard?

There were a few different beards this week. Two that really stood out were Superman's in ACTION COMICS #36 and Green Arrow's in FUTURES END #27.

We'll leave this one to you. Who has the better beard? "Better" is open to interpretation, of course. Maybe we should ask who wears it better? You have until next week to answer the poll. (Note: if you get a "session expired" notice, refresh the page).

That's all I came up with this week. Let us know in the comments below what other Best Stuff you dug this past week. Special thanks to@djfanco (this week's only person to contribute via Twitter) for his suggestions. Also special thanks to the person that suggested the Spider-Butt shot. If you want to participate, you can @reply me on Twitter at@GManFromHeck by Fridays using the hashtag #BestStuffInComics and I'll think you're pretty groovy.

Let us know what you think of this new format. Answer the poll question. Be sure to always look for the best stuff and be sure to avoid wine coolers. Nothing good will ever come as a result of them.
