Beyonce Joins Diddy, Big Sean, And Wiz Khalifa & More To Aid In Flint Water Crisis

Beyonce and the BeyGood will support efforts to end the Flint Water Crisis.

Merely moments after Beyonce finished a very memorable halftime performance alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars, the singer debuted a Super Bowl commercial, announcing the Formation World Tour. And while many fans will indeed see this concert as a gift in itself, Beyonce is continuing to give in an even bigger way. Proceeds from her world tour will go towards helping the residents affected by the Flint Water Crisis.

In a statement released this Monday, BeyGood, the singer’s foundation, confirmed its support for United Way and other efforts to end the crisis, CNN reports. The crisis stems from a government decision to switch the Flint, Michigan’s water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River. Although the river held a reputation for being contaminated and residents complained of its taste, officials assured them it was fine. After research, officials found there to be high levels of lead and other contaminants in the water. News spread on a national scale after images and videos of the water were found on the Internet, showing muddy, yellow, and seemingly undrinkable water.

Since the news, a number of celebrities and leaders have vowed to help the residents. Beyonce is following the generous donations of Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem, and Diddy and Mark Wahlberg, who recently donated 1 million bottles of clean water to Flint residents.

In addition to the proceeds from the Formation tour going to help Flintm the BeyGood fund announced it will be supporting the local organization, United Way, in its efforts to rectify the situation. United Way programs include distributing filtration pitchers, faucet filters, and water bottles to residents.

Tickets for the Formation World Tour will go on tour for American Express and the BeyHive fan club February 9, and to the general public on Feb. 16.
