Pros
File types included: The primary advantage of Beyond Compare is that it looks at all types of files that are on your system. This actually makes it more useful for the standard user, as it gives you a useful tool for managing and syncing files and folders. Most file comparison programs are focused on text comparisons, which is a tool better suited to software developers.
Blazing-quick comparisons: Anything we asked Beyond Compare to do, it did quickly. The program was able to execute any actions promptly.
Comprehensive help features: The help feature was quite thorough and explained most of the functions of the program in a clear and easy to understand manner.
Cons
Increasing interface complexity: When you first start the program, the interface appears straightforward, with clear icons indicating the various tasks you can perform. However, the resulting interface that loads after that initial selection is much more complex. If you've never used a file management program before, Beyond Compare looks overwhelming and complicated at this stage. It is difficult to tell how to get started.
Bottom Line
Beyond Compare is a very powerful piece of software for file management and comparison. If you've never used this type of program before, it could be easily overwhelming. But you should be able to figure it out with the use of the help function.
