Bicyclists report getting smacked by angry bird

I was just attacked by a hawk while riding on Grant's Trail in St. Louis. The hawk drew blood! Would have been much worse if I was not wearing a helmet. The hawk came in from behind, I did not know what hit me. Other cyclists stopped to see if I was OK. Thanks. Not a laughing matter!
Anyone know of a cycling jersy that has a hawk on it? I will continue to ride with the bloodied jersey I was wearing. The hawk is just fine, roosting on a power line pole. White and gray in color same as my helmet. I think I will have to add some eyes to the back side of the helmet.

that happend to me last week.came out of the Bar and wham.....,knockt me right down,had to crawl home .

This is happening in Oregon? The reason Oregon is as screwed up as California with whackos, is because it is now infested with ex-Californians, who screwed up their state, and decided to move to Oregon and pervert it also. The bird is a conservative who finally decided to take action and rid his area of the scum.

I have a falcon that likes to do the same thing to the stupid bicyclists....A Ford Falcon.

The way to deter the hawk is to paint prominent "eyes" on the back (and front)of the helmet. Birds alway attack from what they percieve to be the rear of the victim.

As the old saying goes - "A bird in the head is worth...never mind, just stay the hell away from his tree."

This male hawk in question. Seems to be a better father than the majority of human fathers I come across these days..... It's too bad that human kind has lost the way along side nature. We can learn an abundent of things from other animal species. Got to love the human ego getting in the way however...... Experts saw that the majority of hawks mate for life. If that is so. Then the female hawk taking care of the brood. Has found herself a keeper for sure.

I have birds on my property that attack me and my dog if you get near the nest.

Unlike some human parents, this bird is protecting it's young until they're old enough to be out on their own. IF ONLY people were such vigilant parents!! ((and, isn't this the 'poster story' for bike helmets?!?))

I wish men were so protective of their families like this bird.

There's a big red-tailed hawk that comes and sits on my balcony, it doesn't get scared at all even if i open the slider and stand right next to it. Ive got some pretty cool pics of it unlike yahoo.

This is so typical. The bicyclists are fully aware of this situation and are now complaining of the hawk protecting its nest. The two-wheelers are obviously upsetting this bird. Heaven help the poor bird as some pinheads will suggest relocating it so they can continue to enjoy their nature ride.

If it were an Atlanta Hawk all you would have to do is paint a basketball hoop on your helmet. An Atlanta Hawk does not get near a hoop so you would be safe.

At least the bird doesn't plop his brood in front of the TV for company so he can go out and party and then want to blame society when they all grow up to be losers and scum.

I knew Alfred Hitchcock's premise of The Birds would come true.
