Bindi Irwin Recalls Emotional Speech at Father's Memorial, Says Family Tries to Remember Him 'Every Way Possible'
Bindi Irwin is remembering one of the most emotional moments of her life.
When Irwin was just eight, she spoke in front of 5,000 people – as well as millions more on television – at the memorial for her father Steve Irwin.
Irwin, 17, recalls the 2006 speech in Saturday's Oprah: Where Are They Now?, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look.
"Before the event actually took place I came to mum and said, 'I would like to do this for myself and fore everyone else.'
Her father died after being attacked by a stingray off the coast of northern Australia. Irwin wanted her speech to reflect his passion for wildlife. .
"I just personally wanted to say to the world, to anyone watching, anyone who wanted to hear it, that we would be carrying on. And that's what we've chosen to do," Irwin says. "We dwell on the happiness in life and just try to remind ourselves of dad in every way possible. I think in a way you can still feel him at the zoo."
