    BIT Studios, Chicago Web Design Firm, Launches New Brand-Reinforcing Web Site for Sporting Goods Giant South Bend

    When South Bend Sporting Goods of Northbrook, IL wanted a new online presence to strengthen their brand, they turned to the Chicago web design experts at BIT Studios.

    South Bend has been manufacturing fishing gear in the US since 1906, focusing on equipment – rods, reels, tackle and accessories – that makes fishing fun and easy for anglers of all ages.

    They wanted their new website to visually demonstrate their passion for family fishing while promoting the dependable, affordable products that attract millions of anglers to their family year after year.

    So BIT Studios created a heart-warming, outdoorsy look that draws in guests and encourages them to feel South Bend’s heritage and commitment to this family pastime. http://www.south-bend.com is full of colorful, action shots of families fishing together, a section just for kids, and easy-to-use architecture. BIT Studios developed it in Drupal 7 Content Management so staff at South Bend could manage the site themselves.

    Lori Erickson of South Bend says, "I was a very hands-on client with more than my share of specific wants, needs and tweaks and not once did they tell me to ‘get out of the kitchen’. They were more than willing to work collaboratively on this project, which was my company's first foray into open source (Drupal) as well as in utilizing an outside agency for the development. A great project, a well-received website, and more in the pipeline."
