What's hot on ZDNet

Starting Friday, November 21, existing T-Mobile customers can drop by retail stores to pick up a 7-inch Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7 for $0 with any qualifying data plan, with nothing but the sales tax to pay.

Then, from November 22, the tablet deal is opened out to everyone.

"At T-Mobile, we are unrelenting in our drive to give customers more," said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. "This tablet deal is our way of saying thank you. Thank you for joining the Un-carrier revolution and making T-Mobile the fastest growing wireless company in the U.S."

Note that if you cancel your T-Mobile wireless service contract before 24 months is up, the remaining tablet balance of up to $168 becomes due.

The Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7 is a 4G capable Android 4.2 Jelly Bean device with a 1.3 dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. If has a 2MP front-facing camera and the battery offers 280 hours of standby time. It's also one of the thinnest and lightest 3G tablets, only 8.9mm thin and 285g.

If it's a smartphone you're looking for then MetroPCS has a special, limited-time "Buy One, Get One" offer on a wide range of phones. Kicking off Wednesday, November 19 through Monday, December 1 at participating MetroPCS stores across the country, customers can get two 4G LTE smartphones for the price of one, on select smartphones when they activate a new T-Mobile line on the free device.
