    Blake Shelton Believes Country Singers Will Reign On Season 2 Of 'The Voice'

    Blake Shelton will return to his rotating judges' throne tonight for the highly anticipated second season premiere of "The Voice," and the Grammy nominee is excited about the potential for country music on this round of the reality competition show.

    "There are some country singers that are really good," Blake told People. "We had a few last year but we didn't end up with a country singer in the final four."

    The "Honey Bee" crooner, who mentored pop singer Dia Frampton into the final four on the first season of the NBC singing competition, said country singers have made a strong showing in early rounds.

    "I know anything can happen," he said. "But I really believe in my heart that one of several country singers that we have on our show this year have a shot at winning the whole thing."

      Jimmy, if you knew country at all, you'd know Blake has been around more than the last 18 mos. He has put in his dues over the last decade and KNOWS what these contestants have been through/will go through. Blake AND Miranda are great and remember, she came from a talent show too- Nashville Star, and she IS a country star. Neither are "nobodies."

      I think it's unfortunate the way music is categorized. At least it's gotten better in the past decade with people being more accepting of crossover performances and collaborations across genres, but I still think pigeonholing artists is a bad and unfortunate practice. I don't care what category a song fits in whether it's country or pop or soul or r&B or whathaveyou. I just appreciate a good song. My favorite songs to sing and listen to are those that are emotionally expressive and stick with you or strike your core, even haunt you afterwards. I also think those are the best performances and are my favorite ones to experience. But I like all music and there is a place for all kinds of music in my life. If I were a singer, I wouldn't want to be categorized. I'd just want to sing meaningful songs that I felt expressed a part of me and also the human condition, ones about life, love, loss, and every emotion in between such experiences. Finding your own voice or your own sound is challenging sometimes. But once you find it, it would suck to be categorized and pigeonholed for it.

        Miranda is a #$%$ at awards shows now if her and blake don't win, they won't even clap for the other nominees. I liked Blake a whole lot better before the spider came along.

        BonJovi should be the half-time show. Now there is music that has tens of millions of fans but don't get recognized for it publicly. But there would be a sing out because who doesn't know BonJovi songs?

        "Nobody until maybe 18 months ago"? Seriously? Blake Shelton's been a star in his own right since 2001 when "Austin" off his freshman album went to #1 on the charts. That's a little over 18 months! Research then comment.
