ISLAMABAD (AP) — A Pakistani official says a bomb blast in the northwestern city of Peshawar has killed nine people near a mosque belonging to the Shiite Muslim minority sect.
Police official Rizwan Khan the explosion, also near a hotel, wounded 30 people.
The hotel is frequented by Shiites who visit the mosque next door.
Khan said most of the dead and wounded were Shiites.
The blast came as talks between government negotiators and representatives from the Pakistani Taliban designed to end years of fighting in the northwest were delayed.
