2012 Emmys: Look Who's Snubbed
The Emmys showered the newcomers - "Girls," "Veep" and "New Girl" - with nominations today, while snubbing those who've already been down the red carpet.
Here with a list of snubs and surprises from the 2012 Emmy nominations:
"Glee": In its first year, "Glee" received an astounding 20 nominations and one four. This year, it received just three, with the biggest one for Dot Marie Jones in the guest acting category.
Hugh Laurie: Looks like no Emmys for Hugh Laurie, who failed to earn a nod for his swan song season. Despite being nominated six times for his role as a cranky doctor, the actor never won.
"American Idol": It's not enough to lose two of its judges, the Fox reality series was left off the nominees list for outstanding reality competition program after receiving its first nod last year. "Idol" was knocked off by its rival, NBC's "The Voice ," which received its first nomination.
Jeff Probst: Speaking of reality, after four straight nominations and three wins for outstanding reality host, "Survivor" host Jeff Probst was pushed aside by Betty White, who scored a nod for her candid camera series "Betty White's Off Their Rockers.
"American Horror Story": "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy does have something to cheer about this morning. His FX thriller, "American Horror Story" received 17 nominations, the same as "Mad Men" and only one less than leader "Downton Abbey." Murphy took a gamble moving his series from the drama to the miniseries category and it paid off, scoring nods for the series and lead actress Connie Britton.
"Parks and Recreation": After snagging its first comedy series nomination last year, "Parks and Recreation" failed to make the cut this go round. But star Amy Poehler did score a nod for best actress.
Kelsey Grammer: The Emmys love Kelsey Grammer - they gave him five trophies during his run on "Frasier" - and the critics love his new show, "Boss" - he won a Golden Globe for it. But that didn't guarantee Grammer an Emmy nod this year.
"Louie": Despite its star, Louis C.K., earning another acting nomination for the second year in a row, the FX comedy "Louie" failed to snag its first comedy series nomination despite many believing it would do so.
