  • ABC News' Matt Gutman and Benjamin Krolowitz report:

Karlie Tomica is a college student who'd crowned herself on Twitter as "Party Princess, Miami Beach."

Police say the 20-year-old took her title too literally, leaving the swanky Miami Beach club where she worked as a bartender with a blood alcohol content three times over the legal limit, and then speeding in her car into a well-known chef.

The chef, 49-year-old Stefano Riccioletti, was walking to work when he was killed in the Jan. 28 accident, on Collins Avenue, one of Miami Beach's iconic strips. Riccioletti, who was married with three children, was the executive chef at Terraza at Shore Club, an upscale restaurant.

Police initially charged Tomica, 20, with leaving the scene of an accident, but added the DUI manslaughter charge Friday when they got the results of her blood alcohol test. She faces up to 30 years in prison if she's convicted.

At the age of 12, Shields was cast as a child prostitute in the 1978 movie "Pretty Baby." At 15, she starred in the famous Calvin Klein jeans campaign that made her an icon of the fashion world.

In a new interview with Haute Living, the 47-year-old actress talks about how she stayed grounded as a young Hollywood star.

"I would get invited to Studio 54 [the New York nightclub], but I'd leave before all the craziness and drugs happened. I never saw the bag passed around," she said. "Andy Warhol and all those guys were very sweet to me. There was something about me that they wanted to protect and uphold."

Shields also cited her mother Teri, who died in November following a long struggle with dementia, as the one who helped hide her from the trouble Hollywood can bring. Teri Shields managed Brooke's career until she
