'Bachelorette' Begins New Season Tonight

Emily Maynard renews her search for a soul mate when “The Bachelorette” opens its eighth season tonight.

The 26-year-old Maynard, who has a six-year-old daughter named Ricki, starred on the 2011 season of “The Bachelor” and got engaged to “Bachelor” Brad Womack. They split not long after the season finale aired.

“I always said I would never do it, but when I sat and thought about it, all the reasons that I wouldn’t do it were based on fears,” Maynard told “Good Morning America.”  “I just wasn’t in a place where I wanted to think about going out on a date, much less a whole lot of dates.”

Ultimately it was Ricki, whose father is Maynard’s former fiance,  NASCAR driver and team owner Ricky Hendrick, who died in a plane crash in 2004, who convinced her to go before the reality TV cameras once again.

“I want to be able to teach her [Ricki] that if you feel good about something and you’ve really thought it through and prayed about it and your gut is still telling you to do it, I want her to be able to go and live her life fearless,” Maynard said.

Maynard will meet her suitors when “The Bachelorette” premiers Monday night at 9:30 p.m. EST, following “Dancing with the Stars.”  For the 25 men who will be lining up to give Maynard a rose, the newest “Bachelorette” has one piece of advice.

“I’m not into cheesy lines,” she said.  “So they could not say any cheesy lines and that would make a good first impression.”
