Obama to Hold Final First-Term News Conference

President Obama will hold the final news conference of his first term this morning, the White House announced.

The 11:15 news conference, six days before his inauguration, comes at a critical time.

Vice President Joe Biden Tuesday will present to Obama his task force's recommendations for curbing gun violence in the wake of the deadly Newtown, Conn., shooting.

The White House is also bracing for another round of budget battles with Republicans on Capitol Hill.

Lawmakers have until the end of February to tackle the need to raise the nation's debt limit and the delayed sequester cuts in military and other expenditures.
