Obama Reportedly to Accept Nomination at BofA Stadium

President Obama will close out the 2012 Democratic National Convention in September with an acceptance speech at Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, N.C., party sources told the Charlotte Observer.

The open-air venue, which seats more than 73,000, would significantly expand access to Obama's speech for his supporters and the public and replicate the dramatic setting from four years ago.

Obama accepted the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 with a speech and rally before a crowd of 75,000 at Denver's Invesco Field, home to the NFL's Broncos.  Bank of America stadium is home to the Carolina Panthers.

"Multiple major changes" to the convention format will be announced at a news conference outside Bank of America stadium later today, a Democratic official told ABC News.

Expected among them is the shift from Time Warner Cable Arena, where the first three days of the convention will be held, to the stadium on the final night of the four-day nominating event, Sept. 6.

black unemployment has risen to 20% on obama's watch. hope they realize that just because they share the same skin color, he is not their friend, turns out bush did more for them then obama did!

Blacks don't elect Presidentsm, IMHO. Only make up 13% of the population and only 60% of the 13% can vote. So only 8 percent can vote. Even if every eligible black person votes I do not think it is a game changer in Obama's favor.
      • KEH 4 mths ago
why is it 605 of the 13 % can not vote?
      • Russell 4 mths ago
The most of the other 40% can't vote because of age.

Like all good Americans...whether we voted for this guy or not ..I think we all gave him a shot ...I know I did ..He just took the ball and fumbled so many times ..with so many lame excuses ...he's gotta be cut from the team ...blame on team mates is not an excuse

That's fair. But the people voted in the Tea Party blockers after the first year in the House of Reps, why I don't know. I also noticed that everytime the economy starts to pick up steam the oil companies spike the gas prices and the economy stalls again. I don't think that is coincidence. Republican strategy maybe? That's just my observation.

you cant blame everything on the republicans ....This guy sets up the repubs to look like the bad guys .....Its his talent ......
      • Russell 4 mths ago
True..you can't blame everything. But one thing that is insane is the block everything the President wants to do and then turn around and blame him because he is not fixing the economy fast enough.

BofA is one of the worst banks in America. Unfortunately we are stuck with them for now. But for him to pick this venue is like a slap in our face.......Is there nothing to be done?

If the decision to hold this travesty at the BOA stadium doesn't make plain how utterly in contempt this "president" holds this country and its citizens, nothing will. And there are still legions of useful idiots who will vote for him.

I am shocked at the name of the stadium and his choice, given what's happened to our country thanks to the crookedness of big banks, including B of A. This does not look good at all. Symbolism counts. This is a very bad idea.

Are You Better Off Since Obama Became President…...and the Democrats took over Senate, House, and White House?
      .
President Barack Obama said in February 2009 that his presidency would be “one-term proposition” if the economy did not recover in three years, giving him less than six months from today.
      .
“Look, I'm at the start of my administration. One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I've got four years,” Obama told The Today Show’s Matt Lauer on February 1, 2009.
      .
“A year from now I think people are going to see that we're starting to make some progress," said Obama. "But there's still going to be some pain out there. If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition.”

      .
--The Stimulus failed and the money is all gone.
--Obamacare is looming with massive cost increases and corporations are cutting back to be able to pay for it which means they have stopped investing & hiring.

--Obamas appointees are regulation happy which means that corporations are looking at potential costs, and are cutting back expenditures and not hiring or investing.

--Obama and the Democrats have spent over 4 trillion dollars to date and their promise of unemployment below 8% was dead wrong.

--The US credit rating was reduced because Obama ran 4 trillion in deficits and the Democrats have not passed a budget since October 2009.

--Obama is demonizing the banks for not freeing up lending, when Dodd Frank bank regulation has taxed them with tens of billions of cost, and government regulators have harassed them over foreclosures causing them to delay releasing foreclosed homes on the market and thus incur higher costs.
