Oprah Desperate? Talk Show Queen Issues Rare Apology

    Credit: Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images
Oprah Winfrey crossed the line when she promoted her new interview show on Twitter Sunday night. As a new episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" started on OWN, the talk show queen tweeted to her followers, "Every 1 who can please turn to OWN especially if u have a Neilsen [sic] box." Later, she posted a similar message, saying "Commercial Grammy people..u can turn to OWN."

Nielsen, the company that tracks TV ratings, believes her first tweet may be a violation of its policy against openly lobbying Nielsen box owners to watch a specific show or network. Winfrey told the New York Times in a statement that she's removed the tweet from her feed at Nielsen's request, adding, "I intended no harm and apologize for the reference."

Nielsen will place an asterisk next to the ratings for "Oprah's Next Chapter" to reflect "possible biasing effect."

Had a few beers with a yacht crew in Florida last year, boy did they have some Oprah stories about the 2 weeks she rentred the boat. Very pampered, very stuck on herself. Had an aide who put on her shoes and slippers for her, and they said she raided the gallety so much they ran out of things and Oprah got mad.

Oprah, it's over, girl. You had a nice, long, profitable stay in the spotlight. Move on.

Because anonymous, it is about race. She NEVER supported any democrat in the past. NEVER. But then here comes Obama and all of a sudden, the endorses a politician. Yeah, I would say that is about race and nothing else. And then soon after that her ratings started to fall so she announced her "retirement". She lost a lot of viewers by her racism. And now her paid "aren't I great" program is flopping. Good.

Maybe, since when prepping to leave her network show promised to continue bringing quality television into our homes, should have followed Ted Turner's example and put OWN network on free cable! Oprah NEVER gave away a THING...it was all given by sponsors as free advertising, like one big commercial! Never cost Oprah a penny! Do you really think Oprah gives a rat's behind about anything other then your worship? Naaaaa...,if so, she would have provided her "quality programming" for free, and made her next billion on her sponsors! Shame on you, Oprah!

I am so sorry - I had no idea what I did was against the law. You know, I've only been in the entertainment business for about 25 years, so I'm kind of new at this.

"against the law" yeah dude they're gonna lock her up. LOL

No,but she could face a hefty fine.
Either way it's nothing to her bloated ego.
      • jwhitner 3 mths ago
It's not against the law! It's against the rules if you want to be rated by Neilson.

Someone earlier said it best - when she's free they'll tune in, but pay to watch Oprah? I don't think so and apparently she is figuring that out now too.

Just call it a day Oprah. You have made your millions, sit back and enjoy it. Why is it that the rich always want more?

she knew exactly what she was doing,

      she just got caught.

had that been a FOX network exec, etc, they would be in all kinds of trouble.

but heaven forbid anyone rock the boat.

I see she now may have stock in CBS, otherwise how did her girlfriend, Gayle King end up being a host, and interviewer there, as Oprah has developed how many shows for her that all failed, and suddenly there she is on CBS

Dont know about desperate, she is absolutely loaded. That said who knows how much of her own $$ she sunk into this pit or how big here ego really is.

When a person is used to being praised and worshipped ( like Oprah does) they actually start to think they are a "God." That is why the real "God" had to intervene so Oprah could come down off her too high horse and realize that she is no better than the rest of us. And even though her money has done some good, it will never put her in a "God" status. Oprah needs to know when it is over for her and just let it go and enjoy her life.
    • Roxanne  •  3 mths ago
The only reason she got such high ratings on network TV was because people without cable had nothing else to watch during the day. Now that people must pay to watch her, no one wants to.

Quit watching Oprah when she started preaching "new age religion" opinions.
