Report: Suri Cruise to Attend $40,000 School

Six-year-old Suri Cruise may soon be jet-setting not just with her famous, divorced parents, but for school, too.

Suri will reportedly start first grade at Avenues, a brand-new $40,000 a year school in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood, Life and Style magazine reports.

"Katie has eagerly been telling Suri all about the lunchrooms, basketball courts and different activities Avenues offers. Suri's really excited about it," a source tells the magazine.

Earlier this month reports said that Suri would attend Convent of the Sacred Heart School, home to famous alumni including Lady Gaga and Paris Hilton, on Manhattan's Upper East Side. But sources confirm to Life and Style, the six-year-old will attend Avenues.

Avenues is scheduled to open in fall 2012. The 215,000-square-foot school plans to open more than 20 campuses all around the world in exotic places such as Beijing, Mumbai and Sao Paulo, where students can do semesters abroad. Students will learn basic subjects such as reading, writing, science and math but also have the opportunity for higher learning such as studying Mandarin as early as pre-kindergarten. Students will participate in athletics at Chelsea Piers, where Suri already takes gymnastics classes.

The school, located on Tenth Avenue at 25th street, is just steps away from Suri's mom, Katie Holmes' Chelsea apartment. The building has a rooftop playground and fitness center, where Suri can hide from paparazzi.
