Whenever someone wins the lottery, there's always a bit of surprise. But in a drawing of Canada's dream lottery this week to say there was surprise would be Global Newsan understatement. The drawing took place live on Canada's Global News network. As the winner's name was drawn, the anchors realized the man's name sounded familiar. That's because it was Barry Deley, the network's very own sports reporter! What's more is that the proceeds from lotto tickets went to Canada's BC Children's Hospital and Deley's reason for purchasing the ticket was because his daughter Eden was treated at that hospital for leukemia several years ago. The Deley family has been big supporters of the hospital. It even hosted a telethon for the hospital. So what did he win? Deley has a choice of one of four luxury homes or $2 million. A video of a man nervously drinking a glass of water on live TV is flooding social media. After the government said water from the flooded basement of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant had been decontaminated, a journalist dared Japanese politician Yasuhiro Sonoda to drink it. The plant, which suffered meltdowns after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March, originally wanted to pump the excess water into the sea. But after objections from the local fishing community, plant officials decided to use the excess water on the compound's greenery. After Sonoda, a local politician, drank the water in what was called a "tense scene," he said, "Just drinking decontaminated water doesn't mean safety has been confirmed. A vampire rivalry is brewing. Anne Rice, author of the popular 'Vampire Chronicles' series that includes 'Interview With the Vampire,' took to her Facebook page to knock the author of 'Twilight,' Stephenie Meyer. Rice said her vampires would "feel sorry for vampires that sparkle in the sun," as the "Twilight" vampires do. She also knocks the fact that the 'Twilight' vampires remain in high school throughout the books. Wouldn't you know it, Rice's Facebook post has exploded. It has almost 9,000 "likes" and more than 1,800 comments. Most cheered her on, saying "Twilight is for kids, and the Vampire Chronicles are adult fiction." But another person said, "Cutting on someone else's success seems more than a little petty to me." Twitter is calling it "the world's most inappropriate Halloween party." It's the annual office party for a Buffalo, New New York TimesYork-based law firm. The Steven J. Baum firm processes so many foreclosures that it's nicknamed "the foreclosure factory." Pictures that recently surfaced from last year's Halloween party show the firm's staffers dressed up as homeless people. One employee had a costume holding up a sign that read "3rd party squatter. I lost my home and I was never served." The law firm doesn't have the best record, either. It's being investigated by the Justice Department and is the defendant in two class-action lawsuits. When contacted by the New York Times, the firm called the photos "another attempt by the New York Times to attack our firm and our work." It did however apologize for the pictures. Facebook is about to get a little cooler. The social media giant announced plans to build a server farm, or a cluster of Facebook in Swedenservers, just 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle in Lulea, Sweden. The small city of 45,000 people, which has an average temperature of 27 degrees Fahrenheit, will be home to Facebook's first server farm outside the U.S. So why the frigid location? The new facility's high-powered computers, which are used for storing billions of status updates and photos, need to be kept cool. The new data center, which is about the size of 11 football fields, will use cooling systems powered by evaporated water (which is a renewable energy source). Since more of Facebook's 800 million users live outside the U.S., the chilly server site will also provide faster service to the site's European users. Halloween is just around the corner, and a group of Ohio University students wants to limit what costumes people can wear. The group called Students Teaching Against Racism in Society, aka or STARS, has launched a campaign against costumes that it thinks are racially insensitive. STARS created posters of people dressed as racial stereotypes like Japanese geishas, a Latino wearing a poncho and sombrero, and an Arab terrorist wearing a fake bomb. The posters say, "We're a culture, not a costume." Sarah Williams, the president of STARS, told ABC News, "We want to highlight these offensive costumes because we've all seen them." The group has indeed highlighted this issue, with images of the posters going viral. The images, which Williams uploaded to her private Tumblr page, have already gained more than 17,000 notes (a staggering amount for a personal Tumblr blog). Though many

Grammy winning rapper and producer Ryan Leslie has been sued for $1 million over breaking a very public promise. Leslie, Getty Imageswho was nominated for a Grammy this year for "Best Contemporary R&B Album" alongside Usher and Chris Brown, lost his laptop last October while on tour in Germany. It contained a number of new songs and projects that were very valuable to him. So valuable that he offered $20,000 for its safe return. He tweeted about the lost laptop a number of times and even set up an email account called ryanleslieslaptopreturn@gmail.com to try to facilitate his computer's return. But when no one made a peep, Leslie upped the ante. He made this elaborate YouTube video where he promised to pay $1 million for the computer's return. Wouldn't you know it, a 52-year-old German man found the laptop while walking his dog in a park. But after not getting the $1 million he was expecting, the German man is suing

A touching video of a father reading a bedtime story to his little girl is making the rounds on the Web. What makes this video especially moving is that the dad, who's in the Air Force, recorded the bedtime stories before he left for basic training. The toddler's mother, Audra, said her husband, Dan, made the videos because he wanted his 2-year-old daughter to be able to see him every day. What he didn't expect, though, was an additional 100,000 people seeing him, too. The video has become a Web sensation. Although almost everyone who's seen the video thinks it's both heartwarming and heartbreaking, some people are not so positive. Audra told Trending Now that she is not doing any on-camera interviews because she has received scores of negative messages from people voicing antimilitary views. Overall, however, @DamarisToma's tweet sums up the general sentiment. She wrote,
