  • Town mails discarded dog poop back to errant pet owners

Boxes full of discarded dog excrement are being shipped back to the pet's owners (Europa Press)

Dog parks are an oasis for millions of pet owners—pups can run around, interact with other dogs and get a taste of nature without having to head out of town on weekends.

Some careless dog owners, however, don't abide by dog park rules, or simple common decency, and leave their dogs' waste behind for others to clean up.

Well, a small town in Spain, reports the Telegraph, has decided to remedy the situation by mailing the discarded dog excrement back to the offending owners.

The paper reports that the town council of Brunete, located about 20 miles from Madrid, has undertaken a complex effort to crack down on the disrespectful dog owners. Twenty volunteers have been enlisted to approach dog owners who leave their pet’s poop behind, and to strike up a conversation with the goal of finding out the name of the dog.

"With the name of the dog and the breed it was possible to identify the owner from the registered pet database held in the town hall," a spokesman from the council told the

  • Couple marry in Wal-Mart store where they first met

Susan and Wayne Brandenburg during their Wal-Mart wedding ceremony (Photo courtesy of Susan Brandenburg)They came for the low prices and stayed for the lifetime commitment.

A couple that first met in a North Carolina Wal-Mart returned to the same store to hold their wedding ceremony in the layaway section.

Wayne Brandenburg told CNN said he would casually browse through the store a few times a week before meeting his future wife, Susan, who was working as a cashier in the store.

“I’d ask her how she was that day, and tell her she looked very nice,” he said.

Eventually, Wayne built up the courage to ask Susan on a date. His wife had previously died and Susan was working at the store after her divorce. Susan accepted the invitation to a Chinese buffet dinner and each of them brought their two grandchildren along for the night so Susan would feel comfortable.

After that first date, Wayne says he had fallen for Susan and began bringing her favorite lunch to Wal-Mart each day.

“He was very much a gentleman, and I looked forward to seeing him,” she said.

And while the story might sound a bit

  • Domino’s carries out world’s first pizza drone delivery

The Domino's drone, aka DomiCopter, takes flight. (T+Biscuits)

TacoCopter turned out to be a fake. So did the Burrito Bomber.

But now, the skies, at least in the U.K., have finally opened up to fast food: Domino's Pizza has carried out a delivery order by drone helicopter.

Video of the DomiCopter—developed by Aerosight—was posted by T + Biscuits, the creative agency brought in by the pizza chain's U.K. headquarters. The copter reportedly can deliver up to two large pizzas over a four-mile radius in 10 minutes or less.

“If anything, it went quicker than a pizza boy," T + Biscuits founder Tom Hatton told Fox News. "We were amazed at how easy it was going to be.”

Of course, there are a few caveats about the drone delivery.

First, it was not technically a drone mission. While Domino's said GPS coordinates could potentially be used in future delivery flights, this inaugural mission was controlled by an experienced drone copter pilot who had the benefit of several cameras to help guide the flight.

Second, drone flights come with several restrictions in

  • Scientists uncover ‘God’s bathtub’

The waters of Blue Lake are reportedly unaffected by modern climate changes. (University of Adelaide)Imagine a lake that's never been affected by climate change or any other man-made influences. Australian scientists say they have found just that—a remote lake whose crystal-clear waters seem to be in the same chemical state as they were about 7,500 years ago.

"It's like God's bathtub," Dr. Cameron Barr told the Australian Associated Press of the body of water now named Blue Lake. "It is beautiful. It is absolutely beautiful."

Barr and his team of researchers from the University of Adelaide say the lake—one of the largest on North Stradbroke Island off the south Queensland coast, according to the AAP—is so pure that you can see more than 30 feet below the surface to its bottom.

"It appears that Blue Lake has been an important climate 'refuge' for the freshwater biota of the region, and is in the same condition now as it was 7,500 years ago," Barr told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Barr, who published his findings in the current issue of Freshwater Biology, said it's the only

  • Defying the odds, mother gives birth to third set of twins

Karen and Colin Rodger pose with their six children (PA)A Scottish woman has defied odds of 500,000 to one by giving birth to twins for the third time.

Karen Rodger, 41, welcomed her first pair of girls (Rowan and Isla) after having twice given birth to twin boys.

"I still haven't really taken it on board because I was convinced I was having two boys," Rodger told Sky News.

Karen says her husband Colin was equally stunned when the pair learned they were going to have their fifth and sixth child.

"He thought I was joking and immediately wrote back to say 'this is not funny'. I had to explain that it really was true," Karen said.

The average couple has about a 3 percent chance of having twins when not accounting for fertility drugs. And with each subsequent pregnancy, the odds of producing twins a second, or even third time, become exponentially less likely.

Karen, a dance lecturer, first learned of the incredibly rare occurrence during a visit to her doctor and immediately texted her husband to share the news.

"I just could not believe it.

  • Dr. Dre helps launch college degree program in ‘disruption’

Jimmy Iovine and Andrew "Dr. Dre" Young announce their $70M donation to USC. (AP)Millions of hip-hop fans have been getting a degree in Dr. Dre since the late 1980s. But for a few dedicated students, that will soon be a real thing.

Hip-hop icon Dr. Dre has helped launch a college degree program in “disruption” at the University of Southern California.

The influential rapper, record producer and headphone magnate has made a $70 million donation to USC with longtime music partner Jimmy Iovine.

“The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media. USC provides an extraordinarily rich academic, research and artistic environment,” USC President C.L. Max Nikias said in a statement. “We are committed to encouraging our students to use their intellectual and creative resources to effect change in all segments of society. Our goal is to ensure that the academy is the most collaborative educational program in the world.”

Iovine and Young first announced the donation in May, but now some

  • Dunkin’s bacon doughnut sandwich goes national this week

The bacon doughnut (Dunkin' Donuts)Dunkin’ Donuts wants everyone to have the opportunity to experience its culinary creation. So the store has decided to begin selling its bacon, egg and doughnut sandwiches at all of its locations beginning June 7.

The sandwich contains a fried egg and slices of smoked bacon stuffed between the halves of a sliced, glazed doughnut.

“The glazed doughnut is light and fluffy and gives you just the right amount of sweetness,” says Dunkin’ Executive Chef Stan Frankenthaler. “Combined with the lightly salted, smoked bacon, the texture and flavors marry together in a wonderful way. It’s a delicious bite of the perfect harmonization of sweet and savory flavors.”

And the timing is perfect, as June 7 is also the too-good-to-be-true holiday National Doughnut Day.

As it turns out, Dunkin' is not the first operation to produce a doughnut-based sandwich. The Illinois minor league baseball team the Gateway Grizzlies has been selling a doughnut hamburger, using Krispy Kremes in place of traditional

  • Kangaroo leads Florida police on wild goose chase

A kangaroo was on the loose in Florida. (Pasco County Sheriff's Office/Facebook)Florida deputy Gene Smith thought the calls about a kangaroo on the loose were part of a prank.

But WTSP reports that the story was true: A five-foot-tall, 200-pound kangaroo was hopping around Pasco County on Sunday.

Then the call came that it was now on U.S. 301. Smith—who noted that the calls were the strangest he's received during 17 years on the force—said, "Sure enough, there was a kangaroo in the middle of the road. It was a pretty big and extremely strong animal. It wasn't until I grabbed those legs that I realized just how strong they were. It doesn't look like that on TV."

In fact, the kangaroo was so strong police couldn't catch it. Along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Agricultural Unit, they tried a number of approaches to wrangle in the marsupial without seriously injuring it. But not even tranquilizers could slow the creature down.

"We attempted to Taser the kangaroo," Smith said. "That had no effect."

  • Fossil remains may contain the world’s first bird specimen

The Aurornis xui on this fossil might be history's first bird. (Thierry Hubin, Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences/AP)

A fossil largely forgotten inside a Chinese museum might actually contain the world’s first bird.

Nature magazine reports that the Aurornis xui specimen was technically discovered by a Chinese farmer several years ago. But it had remained unidentified until paleontologist Pascal Godefroit stumbled across the fossil last year in the museum at the Fossil and Geology Park in Yizhou.

“In my opinion, it's a bird,” Godefroit, who is at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels, told Nature. “But these sorts of hypotheses are very controversial. We’re at the origins of a group. The differences between birds and [nonavian] dinosaurs are very thin.”

Godefroit and his team of researchers have written a paper on the Aurornis xui that was published in the latest issue of Nature, where it is described as the "most primitive" bird specimen yet discovered.

So, why is there a debate on whether the specimen should be considered the world’s first bird?

First of all, the Aurornis xui,

  • Man wins $31M double jackpot with identical lottery tickets

Harry Black has won an amazing double jackpot worth $31M. (British Columbia Lottery)

Harry Black won an incredible $31.7 million in the lottery. But the way he accomplished it is even more amazing.

As the BBC reports, Black, from British Columbia, won the money thanks to his purchasing two tickets with identical numbers.

"This is a wonderful surprise to all of us," said Kevin Gass of the British Columbia Lottery. "While it's not known how many people buy identical tickets for a draw, it is the first time in the company's recollection that we've had this unique sort of win."

The $63 million jackpot was ultimately split four ways. Meaning that if Black had used his winning numbers on just one ticket, the jackpot would have been split three ways and he would have walked away with a still whopping $20 million.

Black, 66, is not only a huge lottery winner, he's also patient. The Surrey resident has been playing the same lottery numbers since he was 31—which means he waited 35 years for his enormous payday.

Black said he has always purchased two tickets with the same
