  • Kitten Taken in by Baboon at Israeli Zoo

At a petting zoo in Israel, a baboon has adopted a tiny kitten who recently strayed into its cage and then refused to leave.

The baboon now cares for the kitten, rarely letting the feline out of her sight. Footage shot at the zoo shows that the baboon even checks the kitty for fleas, according to The Associated Press.

Zoo officials told local news website Walla that although the baboon is caring for the cat as it would its own infant, the two are a complex pair that do not always get along. Often the baboon can be seen stealing the kitten's food, officials said. If that thievery continues, the pals will have to be separated, the zoo's manager told Walla News.

Until then, the unlikely pair will continue to enjoy each other's company.

  • Brothers Wait 6 Years to Claim $5M Lottery Win

Two brothers in central New York have claimed a scratch-off lottery ticket worth $5 million that they purchased at their parent's convenience store six years ago, just 11 days before the deadline to collect. One of the brothers said he waited because he didn't want the winning ticket to affect his engagement and subsequent marriage.

Andy N. Ashkar, 34, and his brother, Nayel N. Ashkar, 36, came forward as winners of $5 million top prize in the "$500 million Extravaganza" scratch-off game seven months ago. Andy had purchased the ticket from the Green Ale Market, a convenience store in a rough section of Syracuse that his parents have owned for over a decade.

The brothers claimed the prize on March 1 at the Lottery's Customer Service Center in Schenectady, N.Y.

"It's unusual, highly unusual," lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Hapeman said Tuesday.

Andy Ashkar said that the reason for the extended delay in coming forward was because that he worried reveling himself would negatively

Soldiers Discover Abandoned Baby on Side of Road in Afghanistan
A newborn baby girl left abandoned on the side of the road in southern Afghanistan has been discovered by a group of Polish soldiers.

The soldiers came upon the baby, who they have named Pola, after Poland, wrapped in a towel on Wednesday while they were checking a route near their Waghez military base for safety, Defense Ministry spokesman Janusz Walczak told The Associated Press.

The group of soldiers was first suspicious when they discovered the baby, as there is a risk of hidden roadside bombs across Afghanistan.

It is still unclear who left baby Pola on the side of the road. The AP reported that there was no one found in a mile radius of where the baby was discovered.

After the troops found her, she was brought to a medical center at their base. The soldiers then bought the girl baby formula, a bottle and a bib.

(AP)The closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics brought a dash of traditional British pomp and culminated with a number of performances by English pop and rock super stars and a show-stopper by the beloved Spice Girls.

In contrast to director Danny Boyle's divisive opening ceremony, which featured performances from Paul McCartney, rapper Dizzee Rascal and rockers the Arctic Monkeys, the closing event had the vibe of Britain's famed and diverse music festivals, and featured performances by 1980s pop mainstays Madness and the Pet Shop Boys, George Michael, modern rockers The Kaiser Chiefs, singer Annie Lennox and many more.

It was the reunited Spice Girls that made the biggest splash at Sunday night's event, which was viewed an estimated 300 million around the world and 80,000 fans at Olympic Stadium.

  • Jet Blast Sends Teen Airborne

A thrill-seeking teen on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten was blown away - literally - when she was catapulted backward while standing on a beach next to an airport runway as a plane took off.

Tourists and locals at the half-Dutch/half-French island's Maho Beach, which is famous for its close proximity to Princess Juliana International Airport, regularly seek a cheap thrill by standing as close as possible to the runway as planes fly over the beach, taking off and landing. The beach and the 7,000-foot runway are separated by a thin, two-lane highway.

Tourists with beers and cameras often hold tight to a nearby fence as the jet engines that can easily produce winds of more than 100 mph whiz by. One teenage girl was no match for the roaring engine and went airborne - her head slamming against concrete - as a JetBlue plane took off.

The video shows the teen with her arms flailing and hair going wild in the wind. She quickly goes airborne and crashes, head-first, into a low
