When it comes to visiting somber landmarks of World War II, Katy Perry is no Justin Bieber. In between stops in Krakow and Vienna on her Prismatic World Tour, Perry went to Auschwitz, which she documented with a photo on Instagram.

She wrote:

My heart was heavy today. For ever [sic] let this place be a cry of despair and a warning to humanity, where the Nazi murdered about one and a half million men, women and children mainly Jews from various countries of Europe.

Perry struck a remarkably more respectful tone than Justin Bieber did when he visited the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam in 2013 and wrote in the guestbook: "Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber."

Additional props to Perry for refraining from posting a selfie. Perhaps she learned a lesson from the young woman who caused an uproar this summer when she took a selfie at Auschwitz — and it went viral.

Are you paying attention, Justin?
