Miley Cyrus: I Haven't Had Only 'Straight or Heterosexual' Relationships

Gender doesn't matter much to Miley Cyrus.

The 22-year-old activist just launched the Happy Hippie Foundation to help homeless and LGBT youth, and in an interview with the AP explained it's because she wants all young people to be themselves.

Cyrus revealed that not all of her past relationships were "straight or heterosexual" ones, but declined to go into specifics. The "Wrecking Ball" singer most recently dated Patrick Schwarzenegger, but ended that relationship last month. She was also engaged to Liam Hemsworth before splitting in 2013 and had a high-profile romance when she was young with Nick Jonas.

"The position I'm in, I feel like I've got a lot of power," she continued. "When you have all eyes on you, what are you saying? And that's what I had to ask myself a lot… It's like, I know you're going to look at me more if my [breasts] are out, so look at me. And then I'm going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you."

Miley also called Bruce Jenner her "hero" for shining light on transgender issues.

While making the press rounds to talk about her foundation, she talked to Out about her own gender identification. "I didn't want to be a boy. I kind of wanted to be nothing," Cyrus said. "I don't relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that's what I had to understand: Being a girl isn't what I hate, it's the box that I get put into."
