What does Eminem think of playing large festivals like Lollapalooza in Chicago?
When asked in a revealing interview with Time Out Chicago if he's used to them, he says they are "fairly new" to him, yet he admits he did big shows "in my hazier days."
"It's crazy to look out there and see that many... people," the Detroit rapper says. "It's nuts, man."
And Eminem, who headlines Saturday night's roster at the Grant Park megafestival, says he won't be diving into the crowd.
"I stopped jumping in the crowd a few years ago, when I jumped in the crowd and came up almost butt naked. I thought, you know what, I'm probably [not going to] do this much anymore."
In an interesting set of questions and answers, Em and Bad Meets Evil cohort and fellow Detroiter Royce da 5'9" chat about how they first met, playing big shows, the Chicago hip-hop scene, and their latest project.
The pair also discusses their early influences and rap battles including the late Proof in Detroit and a Chicago MC named Juice.
"Juice had a reputation in the city and that was one of the first things that I had learned when I went to… Scribble Jam," Em recalls.
